J. Michael Quinn
Mike Quinn is a native of Jones County, North Carolina, where he grew up on the family farm. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Marketing from East Carolina University, graduating in 1980. He briefly worked in the insurance industry after college, before beginning a successful career with the United States Department of Agriculture that includes the following highlights:
- served as ASCS County Executive Director from 1985 to 1991
- served as ASCS District Director from 1991 to 1996
- received the USDA Administrator's Award for Service to Agriculture in 1991 for Distinguished Individual Achievement
- received the USDA Administrator's Award for Service to Agriculture in 1992 for Distinguished Group Achievement
- received Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Service to the agricultural community of North Carolina in 1996
Mike joined Carolinas Cotton Growers Cooperative in 1996 as Vice President of Marketing where his responsibilities included developing the grower marketing programs, managing the cooperative's hedging account and conducting analysis of the cotton futures market. He was then appointed President and CEO of the Cooperative by the board of directors in 2001. Mike also serves as President of the Cooperative's subsidiary companies, Cotton Growers Warehouses, Inc. and Southeast Futures Management, Inc. Mike is active in industry organizations where he currently serves as:
- National Cotton Council, Board Member
- NYBOT/ICE Futures US, Inc., Trading Member
- AMCOT, Vice President
- EWR, Inc., Board Member
- International Cotton Association, Member
- Cotton Council International, Export Promotion Committee
- North Carolina Cotton Producers Association, Board Advisor
- Agricultural Alliance of NC, Vice President
- North Carolina Agricultural Foundation, Board Member
Mike is married to Karrin Dettor Quinn and they are parents of two sons, Nolan and Neal.
